A Weekend Chock-Full of Art
This past weekend was full of all things art. A show opening, an anniversary celebration, and Perry’s first ever plein air event.
Let’s dive in…
ART SPACE SHOW OPENING
We kicked the weekend off with a show opening at the Art Space gallery in Macon. They are currently showing works by local Arc Macon Artists. Arc Macon is a space where adults with disabilities can hold jobs, live independently, and gain support to impact the community in positive ways.
We were greeted by friendly faces, whimsy collages, and bright abstracts. Luckily, I got to take home a tiny happy collage by one of the artists. I’ve already added it to my wall of favorite things:)
MACON ARTS ALLIANCE ANNIVERSARY PARTY
Then we popped over to Macon Arts Alliance where we toasted to 40 years of moving the needle forward for art in the local community. I met so many people, ate some really good food, and came home with a few more goodies.
EN PLEIN AIR IN PERRY
After all that, I woke up early Saturday to participate in Perry’s first plein air event. Over 25 artists came out to paint all around Perry, and even though the weather definitely wasn’t ideal, we had a great time.
I posted up at the farmer’s market for my first attempt, and the vendors were so kind. I even got a few bakery freebies!
Available here.
In the afternoon, I switched locations and set up on Carrol street to capture a local storefront with the church steeple peaking up in the background.
I love art. I love watching my community be enriched by the talented artists that live here. Check out a few of the other artists that participated:
