Breathless

$2,500.00

40 × 56”
Oil on Canvas

Inspired by a French photographer and model duo I met in Orquevaux, France, Breathless is based on a photo of the model floating in the swimming hole on the property. The title nods to the song Breathless by the Caroline Polachek — a song that became my anthem during the residency. Just as she basks in the light and magic of that place, this painting holds the feeling of being fully immersed in a moment of stillness, sun, and surrender.

This work is included in my collection A Room of My Own. The body of work was created in response to spending three weeks at Chateau d’Orquevaux in rural France with 23 other artists in March of 2024. A Room of My Own is a tribute to the stories, bodies, and voices that moved me during that time of retreat—an exploration of how art can hold space for truth, tenderness, and radical visibility.
